Those were a Senechal trigger, Hogue grip sleeve and stainless steel guide rod with factory weight 17 lb spring. I had about 4 different brands of ammo, Blazer Brass, Fiocchi, Federal and WWB. The little pistol did well with all of them, no failures of any kind.

However, loaded it weighs close to 27 ounces, which is quite a bit heavier and some may feel it. But, the weight of the frame, slide, and barrel do contribute to the low recoil and stability so that just about makes up for it. Problems with the Security 9. Oh what a disappointment. And I like it so much. But it's an illusion. It's not a gun to like any more. The very first time at the range, the trigger froze up, locked up, tight after only 17 rounds of Fiocchi. Sent it in to Ruger and got it back a week later with a new trigger, springs, etc.

Extraction Issue. Keep arm rigid when firing, possibly replace recoil spring. Feeding Issue. Swap stock magazine, polish and lubricate feed ramp. Failure To Eject. Clean thoroughly, lubricate ejector and extractor. Trigger Problem. Clean behind trigger bar, consider trigger group replacement. The Ruger Security 9 is my first "Hammer Style" semi auto pistol. With the advertised "95% cocked hammer" it has me second guessing carrying loaded without the safety engaged. 13 years of daily carry, and you haven't shot yourself yet is a pretty good track record. It's all about trigger discipline.

The manuals for each pistol explain the proper engagement of the safety. Reading the manual carefully is always advised when first owning ANY gun. I have both and the Security 9 magazines fit the PCC bit the SR9 mags that came with the PCC don't work in the Security 9 without a tweak.
